The self-calibrating microprocessor-controlled duct air quality sensor AERASGARD® KLQ is used to determine the air quality on basis of a mixed gas sensor / VOC sensor (VOC = volatile organic compounds). The air quality sensor is optionally available with or without display, or as air quality controller with switching output. Air quality is understood as a subjective characteristic, sensed by human beings via their olfactory organs. Due to linearisation and high operating temperatures, the air quality sensor achieves marginal drift and good stability. The sensor is automatically self-calibrating. The air quality sensor does not trace concentrations of individual gases, but evaluates the mixed gas as such, i.e. gas concentrations are not measured selectively. Consequently it is not possible to specify gas concentrations by the unit ppm, but in percent, 0 – 100 % air quality. Detectable gases for example are mixed gas, vapours of alcanols, cigarette smoke, automobile exhaust gases, exhaled breathing air, combustion smoke (from wood, paper, plastics), and many more.
